Any OCC students
Hi - I finished up my pre'reqs in the Winter 2006 semester at OCC. Didn't get in this Fall so hopefully I'll get in Fall 2007. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of men in the classes (like 15% or so). But that could have just been the classes I was in. I know there are a lot more males going into their program than there used to be though. EDIT: Meant to comment on the math test. Just make sure you do the practice test before you take it. You don't need to do all the practice problems -- just the ones you need a refresher on. It's not hard as long as you understand basic math (especially fractions) and basic story problems. Good Luck!!

New the the Site and Need Advise
Yeah, there is no waitlist, but the first people to get in are those who finished their pre'reqs the earliest. So I would say there is a "de-facto" wait-list, just not real apparent.

New the the Site and Need Advise
I am also planning on attending OCC. I finished up with my pre'reqs in the Winter 2006 semester and applied for Fall 2006. Needless to say, I didn't get in because of all the people that finished ahead of me. I read that one person finished in Summer 2004 and just got in for the Fall 2006 class. So it can be quite a wait! I figure I should be able to get in by Fall 2008.

Can't do nightshift
This thread is really interesting to read since I have always had concerns about working a night shift. Being a pre-Nursing student, it has been one of my greatest concerns about entering the field. Not trying to hijack the thread, but this question relates to working the night shift. For graduate students, are there a fair number of non-night shift positions available? What options do graduate students have if they don't prefer night shifts?

Is there any hope for me? please help
I agree with the other posters that you have made a huge improvement in your grades by taking them over. You have to realize that grades will not determine whether you will make a good nurse or not. I currently work in a Finance department for a large corporation while I wait to be accepted to Nursing school and we have had a few ivy league graduates with straight A's. Some of them have been great, but some have been totally useless. They might have had great grades, but when it came down to the job, they couldn't function. So I wouldn't get bent out of shape for your grades.

Am I the only one??
I understand the disappointment. I finished my pre'reqs last semester and applied for the Fall 2006 program. I knew I would get denied because of all the applicants who finished their pre'reqs before me, but it sorta stung when I actually got the letter. Even worse, they sent the denial by certified mail, so I had my hopes up when I went to the post office. I figured why would they spend $5/each to send denial letters -- so I figured it was an acceptance letter. Well, I was a little surprised and disappointed when I opened the letter up! :) Chris
