O-1E paperwork (Army)

Published

I could be wrong... but this doesn't sound right to me.

Realized a few days ago that I have never seen any paperwork specifying what my paygrade is going to be. I have over 4 years prior active duty + some reserve time as well, so I know I qualify for O-1E. I believe you just need 4 years and 1 day. Any way, here is the part that doesn't sound right... when I asked my recruiter about this he told me that it doesn't get set up now, that I'll have to apply for it when I report to OBLC in January. That makes no sense to me. I feel like I'm being brushed off because I am a done deal now (accepted my direct commission last week and took the commissioning oath). Any other prior service have some experience with this?

you will be fine. this is done by finance (like the first day of obc), all they need is your paperwork showing that you have been in for 4 yrs and 1 day. and sometimes it does take a little bit for all of this to get straight (since they have to input everything for the entire class). the first month i got paid as an O1 and by the following month it had been corrected. they will actually do a worksheet that will figure out your yrs in service to include any reserve time and irr. good luck.

forwaters,

RME is on it... even if you are unable to straighten paperwork out for a few months as you jump through PCS orders, and OBC type things.... you will be fine as it can be backdated.

I would recommend fixing when you in process at your first duty station after OBC (unless earlier is convenient).

You would just have things like your prior service record dd214 along with current mypay statements and the finance unit at your first duty station will fix and backpay.. The reason I would wait until first duty station is if you tried to fix at OBC....well there's always lag time from flash to bang on finance so by waiting to duty station you could have continunity with your future post's finance section.

Thanks. That is one less thing on my plate. I really appreciate it.

I had to do the same thing twice. Once for O1 and again for O2. I had to send my DD214 up to my UA. I am going active for the first time this March and do not know how it will work then when I get my O3 but we will see. You think it would carry over but you never know.
