NYU transfer/traditional 2014

U.S.A. New York

Published

HI! I haven't been able to find any threads for applicants to the traditional transfer program at NYU for the Fall 2014 semester, I've only seen them for the accelerated program. I'm anxiously waiting for the decision, and read that we can find out anywhere from 4/7 to 5/29!! Has any one else applied to the transfer program for Fall 2014? or go to NYU nursing now? Good luck to all!

Well, if the transfer acceptances go out anything like the ABSN's people will be hearing stuff tomorrow. I am on the west coast so I have this idea (dream) that one day I'll wake up to an email from NYU :)

The city is so amazing, huh? January was my first visit as well. It would be completely different than anything I've ever known... and so amazing!

Haha I have that same dream. I'm originally from the west coast. Where are you? It would be a whole new world for me and I am beyond ready to make that step. With all the butterflies in my stomach it's a miracle I haven't flown away!

I love that you're so excited too! It's been hard to share my joy because no one really gets it! I'm in San Diego now- been here since 2007- READY for a change. This is a great city too, but I'm just ready to go. Where are you at?

I'm in Atlanta. Been here since '05. It's a nice place but I'm ready for the next chapter. I couldn't even sleep last night I'm so nervousness about getting a decision today.

I definitely had a dream last night that I got in, but then was all bummed out because I saw they didn't take some of my classes. Do you have a lot of college already? Are you worried about them taking your credits? Does it matter to you? I feel a little behind the curve as it is- I've been out of the Navy for three years and in community college. Most people are younger than me, and so I don't want to waste anymore time.

Do you know anyone else who is in our same boat? Have you heard anything today?

They're really good about transferring credits from what I hear. As long as your school is accredited and you got a C or better you should be fine. I do care about my credits transferring because I'd really like to jump right into the professional portion. If I lost a semester to pre-reqs I'd be bummed. I've completed 2yrs worth of course work so I'm ready to go! How old are you if you don't mind. I'm 26 (will be 27 when I start). I didn't hear anything today. I woke up so many times thinking I'd have an email lol. I could barely sleep. I did send an email asking if transfer admissions notifications go out on Tuesdays/Thursdays between 8 as 10.

Yeah, I read that they transfer credits reasonably, I'm just kinda getting nervous. What if I get in and they take nothing, you know. I probably wouldn't go if I had to do over a semester. I'm 28- I'll be 29 by the time school would start. I thought I would be better about not waking up to check- but I totally woke up at 245~! Silly us! I'm glad I'm not the only one going crazy.

Did they email you back about the T/Th notifications?

I still have one solid semester of pre-req's to finish, and am signed up to take nutrition this summer. I'd have to call them and make sure it transfers if I get accepted.

I have to take nutrition as well! Omg we have to get in together! That way we'll have each other in the midst of all the 20 yr olds. I feel behind the curve as well, I'm just ready to get on with life. What kind of nurse do you want to be? Any interest in an MSN or DNP program?

It would be so great to have a friend there!! Have you thought about your living situation? Long shot, I know- but I go kinda crazy on Craigslist seeing what I can find :)

I am interested in nurse practitioner probably. Not sure the kind of nurse I want to be. I volunteer right now in an Oncology unit. It's cool, but I think I want a little more action. The floor is so quiet.

Not sure about DNP- how much longer is that after BSN?

Do you know what kind of nurse you want to be??

I want my MSN as well. I want to be an L&D nurse and then become a nurse midwife. Delivering babies is everything to me. I have thought about housing, in a big picture person lol and I am really planning as though this is happening. I'd love campus housing so that all the bills would just be included. I also think it would be safer. Being that I'll be new to the city I don't want to have to find a roommate and figure out where I should live.

I love babies too! I think that would be the coolest! Right now I'm pretty much open to anything.

I thought about housing on campus- so much cheaper than craigslist-ing it, but then it's dorm life. I don't want to be around a bunch of college freshman out on their own for the first time. So many decisions- and you are right, big picture! I've already planned on selling my car and pretty much everything in my apt!

So you heard that we should know something definite by the 29th? That's encouraging at least.

See we're so similar. It would be so great to get in together! I already made plans to sell my car as well and I actually gave up my apt and moved in with a friend. That way I'm free to leave without the confines of a lease and able to save money in th mean time. I thought about the whole freshman dorm thing but from what I've read the housing is more apt based and that they pretty much keep you together by your year so we'd be with juniors at least. Yep she said if you haven't heard anything by the 29th to call someone. She also said decisions typically 6-8 weeks after you submit a complete app so I should be hearing something around now. So nervous and excited!
