Hello all,
I decided to start a thread for the NYU accelerated nursing program since I have not seen one for fall 2018:)
What are your stats? Did you apply ED or RD?
I applied priority on 02/21. As for my stats, I honestly thought I wasn't not going to get in. I was pretty anxious this whole time, especially reading how a lot of the applicants had much better GPAs and work experience than I did. So I want to give some hope to other applicants that you really never know and that you shouldn't be discouraged as NYU really does do a hollistic review of your overall application. Hang in there everyone!
I have an Bachelor's in Psychology with an undergraduate GPA of 3.3.
My pre requisites:
Anatomy and Physiology 1: A
Anatomy and Physiology 2 : A
Chemistry: B
Development Psych: A-
Microbiology: A
Nutrition: Currently pending but expecting an A
Statistics: A-
I was also extremely worried about whether or not I was at a disadvantage since I have no healthcare or volunteer experience. So that won't be a deciding factor on acceptance. I do, however, have 3 years of psych experience working with people with developmental disabilities. I was also overly involved during my undergraduate years and worked in a lot of departments such as academic advising, career advising, and residential life. I've worked with a diverse group of people all different ages since obtaining my psych degree.
I also sent in just one letter of recommendation and a strong personal statement which I felt was the strongest suit in my application.

Thanks for the response! I'm getting really anxious about the waiting :/ I really want to go to NYU
For those asking about Financial Aid, I spoke with the offices yesterday and here is what Ive gathered:
1) If you already have a bachelor's , financial aid is not applicable. I dont know if this is a school policy or a government policy but that was a strong no from them.
2) School will help direct you towards government loans but basically refrained from answering any questions about private loans whatsoever.
3) Your best bet is to apply for outside scholarships. One of the people from the office sent me an email with links to scholarships that I have not gone through yet.
4) Basically looks like 75k in loans . FML!

This sounds about right. Except, only 75k in loans? You must have some savings! ;-P (FML, agreed)
I believe tuition for accelerated students will be 24k+ per semester (a flat rate for students taking between 12-18 credits, and I believe all semesters for the nursing curriculum falls within that range) for 4 semesters, so approximately 98k in tuition. Then I think NYU approves living expenses for student loans of about $9,500 per semester, so that's another $38,000.
Financially, it does not make any sense to knock yourself $100K+ in debt for an RN, especially if you are looking to continue your education after. I am just having a hard time accepting my offer with that on my mind.
It is pretty expensive, but I try to justify it as the fact that 1) NYU is a private school, 2) its a top ranking school/program 3) location and 4) well definitely be able to pay off the loan once we start working

Unfortunately I was not eligible for Hunter's program (I did not pass a class back in undergrad, more than 10 years ago, even though I re-took it and got an A, I was told it was a deal breaker at the info session). A lot of the public schools seem more competitive for 2nd BA programs. And in some scenarios take longer.

In regards to your first point, I do not think that is quite accurate. I received a financial aid summary despite already having another BS degree.
