Hi all,
Been a practicing CRNA for several years outside NY and looking to move back with my spouse end 2021/2022. I've always worked for large academic centers, and would like to continue.
Anyone work for NYP-Hudson Valley / Lawrence Hospital or any other large academic centers in the area (outside of NYC)? Looking to ask about culture/environment, ect. Truthfully - a healthy / non-toxic environment is my priority. It's the one thing you don't find out in an offer letter ?
We have family in NJ and in Long Island and are trying to be closer, but also in a more affordable area.
Thanks in advance!

The only large NYP is in Manhattan. Both Lawrence and Hudson Valley are both small community hospitals. Hudson Valley has never used CRNA's unless it changed to a team in the past 5 years. Lawrence never used CRNA's either. They are both in Westchester County which has some of the highest property taxes in the country. We paid over $16,600 for a big box raised ranch years ago. The closest academic center is "University" Hospital in Valhalla. As far as I know, it's not affiliated with any University but it does host a medical school. But at that point, you are in central Westchester where it is even more expensive than Peekskill, where Hudson Valley is. Lawrence is in Bronxville which is almost as expensive as Manhattan. You might have to live farther north in Dutchess County which will be about 45 minute commute south to Peekskill but that would give you a nightmare drive to through all of Westchester and the Bronx before you even get to the bridge to LI.

"University Hospital" is now Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, affiliated with New York Medical College.
But yes, for the large academic center and NYP, it's either NYP/Columbia or NYP/Weill Cornell, both in Manhattan. The other campuses are all much smaller.
