Hello!
I am a new nurse grad who just got an email for an interview for the New York Presbyterian ED Residency program.
I've attempted searching threads on this but have not found much.
I am curious about the interview, as it is from 9-5pm, most likely in a group setting. I would be coming from Michigan for this, so I was hoping for more insight as this would cost about $300+ for me to go. Has anyone participated in/heard about this in the past few years? How competitive?
Thanks!

The NYP nurse residency program is very competitive, Congrats on landing the interview, that's great. from what I've heard the length of the residency program is about 6 months, but for the ER I would assume is longer. I don't know what the interview process at NYP is like though, but their residency program is well known in NY. Good luck!!

NYS has a regualtion that you must have a year of experience before you work in any ED. I'm almost sure that, that is the reg, but if someone know different then by all means, I would research it tho before coming all the way out here. I don't know if NYC is any different, I cant imagine that it would be. I work at NYP now, but i cant tell you anything about the ED residency programs. Good luck
I've not heard of any restrictions on how many years of experience one must have to work in an ED in NY, although experience is usually preferred. I know for sure that all the nurse residency programs at NYP is for new graduates with no experience, including their ED nurse residency program, they will provide all the training necessary to support a new grad

Hi! I know this was a year ago, but I was wondering how the process went. If you ended up going for the interview and what you found out about the program. I am really interested in applying for this. I have been searching the website for the application, but I heard it is only available for 2 days. Any information would be helpful! Hope all worked out with you :)

It's not true that there is a regulation by the state that requires a year of experience before working in an ED. However, most hospitals are not hiring new grads into ED unless they have some sort of specialty training like NYP does.

Hey! I know this has been a while, but I was just wondering how everything had went! Did you get the job? I just had a phone interview for this a few days ago and I don't think it went well at all. I was so nervous! Plus they asked for my GPA and if I had any emergency room experience, and my GPA wasn't that great and I had barely any experience in the emergency room. So I'm trying not to get to hopeful for a second interview. Just wondering though how it worked out for you.
