NYC Per Diem Hour Rates

Published

Hello. If this question has already been asked/answered before I apologize but I couldn't find it.

I'm an RN with almost 2 yrs of experience who's planning to move to NYC in the near future and I'd be interested in working at a hospital as per diem (night shift only) in either telemetry/med surg/step down.

My question is: What can I expect as far as hourly rate (per diem/night) in NYC?

I know it may vary greatly like it does here in the Miami area (anywhere from 33-46hr) but an approximate amount would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I work perdiem and its 46days and 48 nights. If you get 46 in fl stay there. Unless you just want to live in nyc. Its a great city. Keep in mind the difference with city tax and state taxes is a lot. You are getting a raise just staying in fl. Last week I paid about 550dol in just state and city taxes in a two week pay period. Ouch!

Ouch is right. Thanks for the reply.

Lenox Hill $51 per diem (night shifts)

$47 per diem (day shifts)

Not great pay considering no benefits... and you could get canceled. But it is a good way to check out a position before you apply.

Typically, in NYC, how many years of experience does a nurse need in order to be able to work per diem?

I'm gonna guess it's a year. I think that's the standard in most places.
