Hi all! I will be graduating this May and looking for a residency program at a children's hospital in NYC. The websites don't say anything about hiring new grads/having residencies so I was hoping to find out info from others on here. I read on another forum that Mt. Sinai has all new grads in a residency but you're not applying directly to the residency program, you just apply to the job itself. Does anyone know if that is the same for their children's hospital. I'm particularly interested in Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital, Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at Langone, and New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. Does anyone have experience applying to these hospitals as new grads or know any information? Wondering if they all have residencies? When applications open? Any advice for applying to these? Thanks in advance!

Hi! Hassenfelds is great as well as Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. Unfortunately I have only heard terrible and negative things from Kravis Children's Hospital. I would suggest applying to the new grad residencies and doing pediatric home care or long term care while you wait to gain experience so you have leverage over other applicants. Good luck!
Thanks for the information! I didn't know that about Kravis so that's good to know. I applied to NYU and already talked with a recruiter. I'm still trying to figure out how to apply to Morgan Stanley. From the website info it seems like I just need to wait until there's a job posting that accepts people without experience? But for the past 2 months I haven't seen any so do I just keep waiting?
I recently spoke to an inside recruiter for Morgan Stanley. She said that if you want a specialty, like Oncology or ED, it's best to get experience with adults in a local part of the system (Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx) and then transfer internally. But if you don't care, then a basic Med Surg job locally will do the trick until you get some experience. It seems tedious, but Morgan Stanley seems like one of the top peds places in the city. But if you can get into Hassenfelds as a new grad, totally go for that!

Hey just came across this thread! Do you mind sharing the recruiter? Or just any other info you got?

Hey ees80, how did it go? Were you happy with the position you landed? And if so, would you mind if I ask you a couple of questions as an upcoming new grad as I'm in the same position as you
