Hello everyone, I am a family Nurse Practitioner student nearing the end of my second year at Stony Brook University. I am seeking a possible clinical preceptorship in women's health. I've recently completed 200 clinical hours at an abortion clinic in the city and am required to complete an additional 50 women's health hrs (aprox 6 working days) by June 30th. I have been medicially cleared by my university and allowed to be precepted by either a midwife, Nurse Practitioner, or MD. I currently live in the Bronx but I am willing to travel anywhere within the 5 boroughs. I desperately need to find a preceptor asap or I will fail the course....thanks in advance

Sorry for your troubles. I am a DL Stony Brook student. In the past, I have been told that I could do hours at clinics associated with hospital. Unfortunately I live too far away for that. Is that something you might be able to do? Isn't your professor/advisor helping you find a site? I thought all my woes were because I didn't live near the school.
Good luck to you. Hopefully you will find a place.

Thanks, but I've read horror stories here on allnurses.com of NP students dropping out of on-line programs due to the very real inability to locate willing preceptors...does SUNY Stony Brook have a stable of NPs in NYCity willing to precept NYC students so that we can....like, actually....graduate?? Thanks
