NYC DOE program 2013-2014?

Hi! I'm about to register for the NYC DOE LPN program for the testing cycle of 2013-2014. Could someone who has graduated or attended the program PLEASE give me some advice? Is this program really worth it? Is this program only 1 year, as C-NET says it is? I'm 20, so I graduated HS only 2 years ago. Will I have a hard time with the entrance exams? How does the employment situation look afterward? Please! I would greatly appreciate any assistance! Thanks so much! :bag:

No I will not be working. I am lucky to have a supportive family.... I actually just registered today I have been comparison shopping for best deals probably make a choice by end of the week

oh, okay. Sorry I'm questioning you so much, I think I'm just kind of anxious about the program. Did they say anything about uniforms? i.e. what type of style/color it had to be?

Yes Just finished. But I was in Brooklyn.

It was very time consuming. If you have some college background it should not be very hard for you. I have a family and work during weekends so tried to do majority of the work at school. I'm not sure about Manhattan ,but in Brooklyn we had such an opportunity. The hardest part for me was just after the New Year. You' re tired already but the end is still far away plus clinical starts. Be prepared that no one will teach you. There will be the lectures but you will responsible for your knowledge. And always remember, no matter what's going on there it is a great opportunity for you to become a nurse. Do you remember how many people want to be on this program. Good luck people:)

Thanks so much! That really helps a lot. Where did you do your clinical? Were they close to your house? How long was the shift? How did the nurses treat you at clinical?

For Brooklyn it is Kings County Hospital. From 8 till 3 pm.Two weeks of clinical than two weeks of school. Nurses were nice.

Hey y'all I got a couple of questions. First if all congratulations!! Was the teas hard? What level of teas was it? Example teas v or teas iv? How was the science part? I haven't took any science course in awhile..:( How many test are there in total? Pnat then teas?

The TEAS wasn't any harder than the PNAT. And the science wasn't hard at all. I don't think any of the tests are all that difficult. The most difficult part is not psyching yourself out. If you can stay calm, you got it!

Unfortunately I had to defer my acceptance to next year because I became very ill. Can anyone in the program currently tell me how it's going? Thanks!
