I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

No worries I know the process I've take. JC to cur no worries
Melcito23 said:This going back to school applies to you bc you never attended any classes you didn't go to clinicals and you didn't pass any tests on your own right. It doesn't apply to people who did the hard work and then the school committed fraud.
This has nothing to do with me. Cause im not in your situation. I'm not going to throw stones, no need . your angry and looking for someone to attack. Take care of your situation and don't project on others

If it doesn't apply then you must be able to prove in front of anyone that you went to school period
Meanwhile nurses from "Puerto Rico" can work in Florida without taking the NCLEX ? Just annoys me cuz I worked hard and did the right thing and still possibly have to start over due to NY not releasing my passing grade to FL.
The Florida BON has informed me that if you passed the NCLEX in another state and can't get the scores, the FL BON will allow you to retest with out taking any additional classes.
Yes, I actually spoke to them and was told I have to print out the application and mail it. I thought the application would cost more $50? And when I spoke to the New York board last week, she said give them a few more weeks. I don't understand why since it's already been five months.

Ny will not give Att#, issue license or endorsement if school in Florida is not accredited. But they still all those nurses that did the fraud working and renewing there licenses. Make it make sense.
Everyone should be on hold , not just some
I totally agree. But what gets me is my school was accredited when I graduated. They issued my ATT in April and I took the test June 30. They are not releasing my scores because my school is not accredited as of today. I graduated in 2020. They allowed me to pay for my application fee and NCLEX. They should have never took my money and allowed me to sit for the exam, knowing what was going on on their end. It's very frustrating for those who did what they were supposed to do legally and are being held accountable for the ones who didn't. I've waited long enough and have decided to just test again in florida. I just feel stuck now because if I want to move back to NY I have to go back to school.
I am too old to start over.
This is the new update on NY BON website
Operation Nightingale Update (11/15/2023)
The Department is committed to public protection by ensuring that all applicants have met the requirements in New York law to be licensed as a registered professional nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) in New York.
In January 2023, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced indictments of individuals allegedly engaged in providing fraudulent nursing diplomas and certificates to nursing students at six programs approved by the State of Florida. In New York, this translated to approximately 900 licensees and more than 2,000 applicants with allegedly fraudulent credentials from Florida schools.
Schools previously approved by Florida had presented diplomas and transcripts to New York for students who did not actually complete required coursework and clinical experience. The Education Department continues to seek additional information to verify the veracity of documents and adequacy of education programs.
The Board of Regents adopted emergency regulations (8 NYCRR 64.1), effective April 18, 2023, that allow the Department to reject out-of-state nursing education programs approved by the licensing authority of another state, if such program or any part thereof is determined not to be satisfactory to SED. The DOH and DHHS investigations and prosecutions continue, adding schools to the list of those shuttered by the Florida Commission on Independent Education and the State Board for Nursing.
Applicants for licensure in New York who submitted education from a program that is not satisfactory may have verification of nursing education from a New York-registered or accredited program that meets the requirements in the Education Law submitted for review. Verification must be submitted by the school with a transcript that does not include course work completed at a program deemed unsatisfactory by the Department.
We will continue to update applicants and the public on our website.

Thanks for the information. As stated above I completed all of my education by an accredited school. all of the program was completed at an acen school. The people who have the problem should be the people who live in NY and went to school in Fl only which makes no sense.
I need the NY BON to speed the process I need to work

Wow thanks for the update. Typical NYS BON. After reading, I can see that this is not an update. It's the same thing that they have been saying. This changes and addresses nothing. They took every answer they have given thus far and compiled it together. I guess it's better than nothing. The waiting game continues. I wish you all the best. As of now it's either go to Florida and take NCLEX again or go to an accredited school and have that education submitted to satisfy NYS BON requirements and receive NYS license. I don't think NYS will ever approve applicants with approved educations from Florida or any state for that matter. This is just the reality that has to be faced.
