I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

I took mine through NY and passed , they issued me a license then I called FLBON they let me retake it . But they have to send request RE-ENTRY to pearson. If you are in fl YES THEY WILL LET YOU RETAKE THE NCLEX.
Does one has to live in FL before FLBON can let someone retake the exam or not ?
I have posted this in other tread and wants to see if anyone in this chat has any information as well.
I have been searching through and looking up for answers as I have been dealing with same issues after passing NCLEX last FEB.
It has been an emotional roller coaster, passing NCLEX and waiting for NY license. Initially I was checking the NY site waiting for my license number to pop up. I am a FL resident and attended school in FL for over 2 years due to the pandemic, I thought I have nothing to worry about, my education is legit.
Now after 2 months with ZERO communication from NY BON , I started to call the Board and got answers that everything is there you just need to wait for your application to be reviewed.
Last call they told me to send in my transcripts, I did, still nothing.
Is that how a Professional is treated? Not even sending an email response?
I am beyond frustration, I have worked soooo hard for my RN degree and that is how this story ends because of other people mistakes?
I understand some others are in the same situation and really frustrates me to know that I might need to sit for NCLEX again in order to get a license in FL. I am emotionally drained in order to take NCLEX again , lost my confidence and have zero motivation to sit and do a refresh study.
Is there anyone that can assist us with this? Anyone that can listen to us and make a simple task to see which school in being investigate and which one is not and end with this limbo that some of us are going through?
I have never heard of someone who passed NCLEX having to do it again. Please share your experience and if that is the case, if you had to take NCLEX again, share with us.
Because if that would be the case, I need to get a therapist and sit and reviewed NCLEX again.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and advices.

I really don't know because iam a florida resident so try to call FLBON . I already have my ATT and I scheduled for my test this week. This process has been very stressful for me because when I finally passed my test , NYBON doesnt want to release my score nor my license just because the school I went to is under review.

Totally don't agree with NYS approach, there's no reason they should withhold people score nor licenses if their schools weren't involved

Exactly What I have been struggling with...
I have nothing to do with this... If they were going to hold my License or my score, I should have at least a Heads up on what I was getting into.
That should be someone to reach out to have ours questions answered and our voices heard, instead, of a person over the phone.
That is why I want to reach out here to see if anyone has found a resource, someone that will help on get this resolved.
I cant no longer sit here and wait as what I have ingenuously done for the past 2 months.
Maybe there is a reach out person at the NY BON that can be contacted for cases like this.
NCLEX is the worst nightmare of any nurse, you can ask anyone that has gone through it.
I cannot accept that I have to go through all this stress, and no one cared .
Not even a response to my emails, contact us form, nothing.
This Allnurses chat has been a life saver otherwise I would still continue to be Clueless.

Agreed! I'm truly sorry about what you're currently going through RN I'd say take NCLEX again w/ FL if allowed move on from there you've got this doesn't seem like NYS is in a rush to hand out these people their licenses nor scores if I'm not mistaken some people on this thread have been waiting for year still nothing.
the reason why NYS is taking such precaustions is becuase it is important that those having professional licenses to take care of someone has the proper training and education. It may be frustarting for a state to take such precaustions put place to blame is FLorida BON for not ensuring all their states schools are complying not just on a state level but on a national level and the people running these schools who were so money hungry that they decided to do fraudulent things.
so now NYS has decided that we will only accept a nursing school if florida DOH has a school listed as being Accreddited( national compliance). If the school is listed as just being Approved( only good for the state it is located in).
I also feel as though if other states didn't give a limited amout of times to take the test people wouldn't have to come to NYS that has unlimited test taking just to get a license to endorse it back to the state they want to actually work in
Hi Starr 2022,
I don't know in which part of the RN license process you are in right now, just want to clarify...
I am not condemning any Board of Nursing to be taking precautions against FRAUD.
I am expressing here the lack of RESPONSE, the lack of CONSIDERATION with a PROFESSIONAL.
My school IS APPROVED by the FL BON, and I was cleared to TEST in FEB. why the Board has not being upfront and stopped FL Nurses to TEST , as soon as they started this investigation.
I am expressing here my Frustration due to the lack of COMMUNICATION and Response. I have not receive not 1 email from the BOARD.
If It wasnt for this chat I was going to continue to do what they told me over the phone, we are processing many licenses and it will take 6-8 weeks.
I have never seen this happening before in my life, our HANDS are TIGHTEN and there is no one to Respond it to us?
I passed my NCLEX on my first attempt.
The reason that I applied to NY license is because my wife was accepted at NYU Phd program starting next fall. This is my case, I am sure there are other stories out there that doesnt involve the below quote;
"other states didn't give a limited amout of times to take the test people wouldn't have to come to NYS that has unlimited test taking just to get a license to endorse it back to the state they want to actually work in"
I will continue to reach out here if anyone has received information where we can be helped.
I cant accept that in the year of 2023 and in one of the most powerful states of the USA this is happening.
