I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?
@starr2022 what happen to the students who completed all the requirements before the federal investigation. Students who sat down and took the NCLEX and have not pass the NCLEX.
@starr2022 according to Pearson view you can. They will just override the system and according to the New York Board of Nursing you just have to update your education to be issued the license if you take that route as to going back to school.

So if you pass NCLEX before your school went into review and have already been working under your license. Then go back and complete your BSN from an accredited school they will override the system and NY would grant a license?

Sorry, I don't quite understand your comment. Will you please clarify?
Are you saying that if a nurse that did RN to BSN at another school passes, then they can update their education with New York state and get a license?
Or are you saying if an RN does another RN (Associates) program they can update their education with that and get a NYS license?

@starr2022 I have the same question. If a student failed the NCLEX before or during the investigation, are they disallowed from retaking the exam now?
I also would like to know what if the student passed the RN in another state and completes an RN to BSN program. Would the student be able to update the NYS app with the BSN school in and be licensed in NYS?
starr2022 said:no updates on schools but was told that if your nursing school is under review and you passed, going to another nursing school will not help because a) you aren't permitted to take exam again b) it still all boils now to the school information that originally made you eligible for NCLEX.... so bottom line don't hold your breath on NYS right now.
If your school is under review and you attend another program to continue your education, NYS won't update your application?
So if a student became a BSN in another state, they cannot update their NYS application or become licensed by endorsement? The hold was so long, getting licensed in another state made sense
Sorry, I am trying to get some specificity because I am afraid of spending any more money and time just to get blindsided again.

You can not have any credits used from the school under review and your new education must be satisfactory with clinicals etc so an online route will not be the best option if it does not provide clinicals

What I was told was the credits from the school under review can't be used and you have to attend an accredited school that proves sufficient education that includes clinicals. So if you want to go BSN route you can't use that school information or do online without clinicals

It does not matter if you passed the NCLEX or not. If you didn't pass you can choose to do it in another state and move on. If you passed you just had to wait if you choose to or start over. No one actually knows anything about the review NY is doing, most people on here are speculating outcomes. When I spoke to Pearson Vue, they said you can definitely retake the exam if you passed already but you just have to call them to do it for you since the system won't let you do it for yourself. Two NYBON representatives said update your education and as long as it from a reputable school they will accept it, if you can't go back to school wait until the review is over which can take up to 3 years based on what they are looking for and whether they are satisfied with the information they have
