I just got accepted to the NYCDOE Adult Practical Nursing Program does anyone have any information on loans I can get to finance it. It would be so appreciated:)

have you checked out stafford loans? they are garenteed..there is also financial aid as well, not to mention scholarships you can find in your community and online. Johnson & Johnson has some great ones!

Does the NYCDOE Adult Practical Nursing Program not have a financial aid department where your questions could get answered? Most institutions that offer LPN programs (public and private) employ people who work strictly on the financial aid since it can be a daunting, convoluted process for the typical student to navigate.

If this program is authorized by the U.S. Dept. of Education, government student loans such as subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans might be an option. There are also private student loans offered through companies such as Chase and Sallie Mae. Also, you might be eligible for grants if you meet certain income requirements.

I'm just going to use credit cards. Thank you for all your help and no sadly they know nothing on what a student can do to fund this program. Technically this program is for people who already have jobs in the medical field or have been employed and is using this program to fast track into nursing.

I can think of 2 things before seeking out loans: snya has NYS funding and you may be eligible. It's not a loan program so there is no payback and no "strings attached". It is state funding awarded to an association . Also you may qualify for an "ITG" (Individalal training grant) through a NYC program called workforce one . The health sector including career counseling, resume and interview prep as well as assistance with job placement. Either one would probably be enough to cover your costs. SNYA has info on their website at www.snya.org. I would have to get the info on workforce one tomorrow and post it.Hope it works out!
