NVCC Nursing clinical uniform for 2007 and beyond...

LOL, which NVCC? Northern Virginia Community College? There's another one in Connecticut, I think Naugatuck Valley or something. I'm at Northern Virginia Community College, so if that's what you need I can help.

Hey Kelly. Thanks for the response. I didn't know that there were two NVCC's... LOL. I'm at the one here in VA. (NOVA...as we locals like to call it. But yeah, I'd appreciate any information you can give me regarding the clinicals and the uniform. Thanks again! Hope to hear from you soon.

OK, I just wanted to make sure. You will have an orientation and they will tell you everything you need to know. Basically they will assign you a clinical, you don't get to choose where or the instructor. Stinks for me because I'm in Dumfries and I'm going to Reston - that's an hour not counting the traffic I will surely get stuck in!

The uniforms you will have to buy at EmbroidMe in Springfield. They aren't very expensive, maybe around $50 total, but I don't remember exactly. Basically it's green scrub pants, a white scrub top with the school logo, and a lab coat with the school logo. Oh, a white tee for underneath the scrub top, and you can't wear ankle socks. You'll also need white shoes - plain white, must be "polishable". I just bought sneakers today because I haven't had luck finding "nursing shoes" around here and my clinical actually starts tomorrow. Oh, you'll also have to buy a name tag. Hair has to be off the collar, no visible tattoos or piercings except one in the ear lobe, no dangly earrings.

Clinicals for us started the 5th week of the program, and we'll have 5 weeks per site. After Reston I'm going to a nursing home in Fairfax. Like I said you don't have a choice, but if you're lucky enough you can trade with someone.

Hi again, Kelly. Thanks for the info! Whew... I thought we still had to wear the uniforms shown on the website. (it really doesn't bother me...but I thought they were hideous!(LOL)) I guess NOVA changed the uniforms...

So you have clinicals at Reston? That's cool. I work there as PRN. I work at the Medical Records and I'm there about 3x a week. That sucks that you got assigned somewhere far. I'm doing the ONLINE RN program at NOVA which is new. I'm a little intimidated 'cause the lectures are online. How are your classes so far? I'm sure our classes will be the same, minus the fact that you have face to face lectures. How are the professors and clinical instructors?

Sorry about asking you a bunch of questions... I'm just very curious and I really want to prepare myself. Thanks again for all the info! Good Luck with the clinicals!

Yes, apparently we're the first class to get the new uniforms, and it is a relief after seeing the old ones! My dh thinks the one I have is ugly with the green pants, but I think they're fine . . . geez, they're just scrubs, and I wouldn't want white pants . . .

Well, congrats starting the online program. I had the option but decided to start earlier . . . I did all my prereqs online though, and it was tough, just have to stay disciplined!

That's funny that you work at Reston! It's quite a hike for me but still I'm looking forward to clinicals. It'll be nice for you if you get to do clinicals there though. Our local hospital (Potomac) doesn't have clinics with Nova, so the closest for me is Prince William, and there are some in Springfield, I think.

I don't mind answering questions, it wasn't that long ago that I was waiting to start and starved for information, LOL!
