How long did it take you to get you ATT after garduation? Was it hard to find available spot to test for NCLEX? Thank you so much for your time :)

Probably depends on how fats the school gets the required paperwork out to the VA BON. I know last yr the school sent out an email when the paperwork was sent. I believe people started writing the Nclex near Mid-June.
There are MANY testing centres in the DC area. of course you can go and write the exam anywhere. AND you can switch as many times as you please, but once your in a 48 hr (maybe its 24 hr???) window, you can no longer change test dates. I switched my dates like 10 times, lol and even changed the testing centres, lol. Its all very easy to do. And keep checking back for the date you want--people get cold feet and change! I was constantly checking. I recommend writing in the morning, guess that depends if ur a morning person or not, I know by 1300 I feel like a nap!
Our transcripts were not sent yet (no email notification). Ready or not, I have to test in June. I only found few centers in VA. There are many?
To be honest, I am a little concerned about ever being ready. Taking Kaplan review right now but feel like I am doing worse by using their decision tree. Probably should study harder.
Thanks flames9
Not sure when they sent out ours. But i recall 1 of my friends testing on June 20th, and i think she was 1 of the first, but again, i don't really chat with that many!
Maybe not "many" but keep in mind you can write in MD, DC and VA!! Do it in Florida if u wish! I live in VA, but actually wrote it in the Bethesda MD centre.
I did Kaplan! I think it was a fine course, can't complain, passed on the 1st attempt. I read the whole text book a few times, did ALL the questions in the question bank, and listened to the online videos! Only other book I used was the Saunders Nclex book, think it was the 4th edition (blue cover) Just question after question after question! Actually i think i was taking kaplan last yr at this time!
Ones best to write as soon as you can, as one truly never feels ready. I know some that didnt write for the first time until November!! One could have failed it twice by then, lol
Regarding the decision tree, hard to say if that works or not, but it does make you think out the question! I'm just glad there wasn't any breathe sounds last yr,like there is now on the new Ncelx! good luck
It sounds like you had a good plan. I am doing Saunders (the blue one) too. Doing Kaplan "everything." So much material to go over! Thank you for replying. It feels comforting. If I am nervous thinking about NCLEX now, I wonder how I will actually feel taking it. Yes, to test in the morning would be great. I am not sure if I can survive until afternoon to take it.
My "plan" was't that great, lol I was a huge procrastinator!! I didn't have to work, so I had a lot of free time! 1 of the NOVA instructed stated one shouldn't write until you have done at least 5000 questions. Don't think I did that many. Not sure what worked the best. I think the Kaplan text book was super. I spent very little time going over medications, and for me it was probably a wise decision, as the few drug questions I had, the names didn't ring a bell, lol so maybe I should have spent more time on it,lol The testing center in Bethesda was nice. At 1 time I was scheduled to take it in DC, then the one near Tysons, but kept switching. And the pearson Vue trick--found on the NCLEX page on allnurses.com, works very well. As well, if you signed up using ur SSN#, the next day you can call the VA BON and hope to hear ur name!! If you used your drivers license, i don't think it works as fast. Good luck!

This is true. When I took the NCLEX in 2008, I used my drivers license number on my application, so I wasn't able to use the phone system to check results. I had to wait an extra day until I was in the database online. Arrrghh.
Guess were lucky IN VA, as it pops up pretty quickly online, think it took 2 or 3 days for mine to show last July! I don't think the Pearson Vue trick has been wrong yet, has it??
I tested around 2pm on a Wednesday, and was listed with a license number in the online database by 8am on Friday. Thank goodness -- I don't think I could have survived another day of waiting! I have heard of the Pearson Vue trick being wrong a couple of times, but not many. I think it's probably pretty accurate.
Think the 1 time i heard it was wrong, was that the person checked too soon--Need to see that message that states along the lines "test has been sent???" I just know once i saw that pop up, the next "pop" was the opening of a cold beer!! 5 o'clock somewhere, lol
