Has anyone taken nutrition i'm just wondering what should I expect to learn in the class

Nutrition was actually a great course! We learned about nutrition throughout the lifespan (childhood, adulthood, pregnancy, and in the elderly). We also learned about foodborne pathogens and the diseases they cause. Vitamins and minerals were also covered.
It was a very interesting class that wasn't at all difficult as long as you payed attention. It was easy yet very informative. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. It is one of the easiest nursing pre-reqs, in my opinion. :)

I recently took a nutrition course(Fall 2011) at OCC, and I loved it! My professor was Lisa Merrill and she was awesome! She is a registered dietician in current practice. I felt like I learned so much from her. She made our class fun instead of feeling like we were being bombarded with information. I learned how eating more protein helps jumpstart weightloss, about adults, seniors, children, and pregnancy. Info on vitamins and minerals and how they work together and what they do. It was alot of info but if you take good notes, make up some index cards, and ask questions on anything you want more info on you do better. I noticed lots of people who didn't take the class seriously didn't do well. But I have to say my professor made the difference.

I took Nutrition over the summer and I loved the class. Our professor has a PhD in Nutrition and her undergrad and one of her masters were on Chemistry, so it wasn't just about food but what happens to the body with the different nutrients and why. We learned about different diets for different ages, about malnutrition, and obesity. We also had an entire unit of chemistry, the different nutrients are digested and how energy is produced, electrons here, ATP there, etc. Intense course!
I applied what we learned at home and hubby lost more than 30 pounds in a couple of months. I lost more than 25. I was impressed because we don't have the money to eat out or buy junk food every day. Nothing but controlling the amounts of food and making better combinations.
I had lost like 15 pounds when the course finished, so I had the opportunity to thank the professor and show results. She thanked me back with tears in her eyes, and told me "this is why I teach. If I can change one life per semester, it's worth it".
Hopefully the OP will enjoy Nutri too :)

This was how our class was as well, but in addition to the above we covered diet therapy - different diets for different health conditions (liver disease, diabetes, etc.) It was an easy class, but I actually made use of the information she gave us and did the recommended reading and outside assignments. The students who assumed they'd get an easy A were disappointed to finish with a C when they didn't put in the effort.
Thanks everyone for the input this was very helpful information

I am taking nutrition online starting Jan. 5th. From what I can tell by flipping through my book, it looks very interesting!

You should pick up Nutrition made incredibly easy. It really helps put nutrition in terms you can understand. I am using it as a co-book in my nursing classes.
