Hey guys! Brand new to Allnurses! :) but anyway, I need your help. I'm applying to accelerated bsn programs and currently completing some prerequisites. I need Nutrition for some schools but unsure of which to take.

Here's the info for the nutrition class @SCCC

Introduction to basic nutrition in which study of nutrients and food is applied to making intelligent food choices. Lab allows students to apply math and reading skills to various areas of dietetics and nutrition practice. (Offered fall semester only.) Prerequisite: MAT007 or equivalent. Corequisite: DTE103. Minimum grade of C required to advance to next course in DTE sequence.

[h=3]BIO 115 - Human BioNutrition[/h]Description: (Formerly BIO 111 / BIO 112) Nutrition is explored as an emerging science that combines biology and chemistry into an exciting field of specialization. This course is designed to explore the physiological mechanisms of nutrient metabolism and their interactions on human cellular biology. The characteristics and functions of nutrient groups are studied in their relation to their biological requirements and proper balance. Special attention is given to the relationship between an unbalanced diet, an altered metabolism and the disease process. Also considered are the unique biological features of each of the stages of life and their effect on nutrient requirements. (3 lecture, 3 laboratory hours) Laboratory fee applies.

Which class would you guys take? I'm leaning more towards the human bionutrition class and the nutrition for the healthcare professional class.

You need to look at the nursing program(s) that you are planning to apply for to see what class would fulfill their requirement. Most schools have Macro agreements that give you information about what classes they will allow you to transfer in for credit. Talk with the schools and the programs that you are interested in. You can also usually find information for each school and what they will transfer in on their website along with the prerequisite requirements for their nursing program.

What guy above said. Just take the nutrition course that is actually the pre req for nursing schools. You can find the correct class by looking at the pre reqs for different schools
