I'm doing a project for one of my classes and my topic is white uniforms, why or why not? Are there any articles on the internet related to my topic? Or, what is your opinion on the uniforms?
I think they should keep nurses wearing the cute scrubs instead of strict uniforms. The designed uniforms show your personality. When going into a patients room you shoul identify yourself and who you are. I understand some people dont know the difference between the kitchen staff and the janitors. I remember growing up and saying I wanted to become a nurse to wear the designer scrubs. Wearing a white uniform wouldn't stay clean for long, especially working in some specialty areas. So, what's your opinion? yes or no?

i have been a nurse for a long time, and started out with the white uniforms...we even had to wear our caps! there was no mistaking who was the nurse. :-)
but, i prefer scrubs, the colours are great, and they are practical. i now live/work in australia and we wear mostly black/navy ... it's dreadful!

Will never wear white unless I have absolutely no choice. You can't get the stains out.

I Have Found That White Commands Authority More Than Kitty Cats Or Pumpkins. Either Business Casual Clothes With A White Lab Coat Or A White Uniform. Depending On Your Area Of Nursing, And What You Get Into During Your Shift. I Have Never Had A Problem Keeping It Clean.

I love the bright and obnoxious colors and patterns. When I started we had to wear white but we had recently gotten rid of the caps. I've had several older patients say they prefer the "old days" when you could tell the nurses from the support staff because of the nursing caps.
I've found that if the various departments have a basic color they stick to it's easier to tell them apart. Resp. Therapy was green, Housekeeping blue or burgundy, kitchen staff wore white pants with red shirts and nurses could wear anything.
I think I'm getting to be a "fuddy duddy" because I don't like the new Metro scrubs. I don't like the tight fitting low riders that some of the new nurses are wearing. I don't have the body for them but even if I did I wouldn't wear them. I don't think a nurse should wear anything tight or revealing and never show any stomach or shoulders. That's my personal preference.
