Nursing students requiring expertise!!!

Published

Hi everyone! We are third year nursing students at the University of Calgary and are doing an assessment project on the access to arthritis information. We have some questions and were wondering if you would take the time to answer our questions. Your information is desperately needed! :rotfl:

1. What area of nursing do you work in?

2. What town/city do you live in (optional)?

3. When a client comes in with Arthritis do you refer them to an outside service? If yes where?

4. Do you take the opportunity to educate your clients about Arthritis? If so, how.

5. Has the facility you work at ever received information from the Arthritis Society?

6. What do you think is the most effective form to receive information about Arthritis (Ex. pamplets, business cards, videos, information sessions, other)?

Thank you so much for your time in filling this out!!!!!! We greatly appreciate it!

I work in an acute care hospital (400 beds) in a Texas town (75,000 people). Patients with arthritis are referred to our rehab unit when appropriate. Sometimes MD's will arrange for OT/PT at home or at our Sports Medicine clinic. I don't know about info from the Arthritis Asso., but many patients are elderly and do not access the Internet routinely. As an educator I know that reading pamphlets is the least desired method to learn for senior adults. They need one-on-one teaching. Hope this helps.
