As we all know, we have a lot of nursing students as well as registered nurse now a days. Why? Because they want to work in abroad or other countries. Why? They want to earn high salary to support their families. Why? Because if they stayed here for the salary of P8,000-P12,000/month, do you think it's worth? That's the reason now a days why some nurses are not doing their job well especially in some private and provincial hospitals. We need to improve this! That's why I want you to make a comments or suggestions for this...

By the way, I'm a BSN student. This is my second course. I'm a mother of 3 lovely daughters. Thanks and God bless you!!!

in my own opinion, gone are the days were nurses really wants to be nurses because they are geniunely wants to help and take care of the sick. gone are the days where nurses really study hard and take pride of their choosen profession, also, whatever they do or how they act really reflect a true character of a nurse: polite, honest, neat, does not cuss, or involve in a unacceptable behavior. now, i honestly want to say i haven't had any work experience in the philippines, better yet, any clinical or educational practice in the provinces..however, i was a patient once a long ago. i have a high respect to nurses because i felt that they do a great job in taking care of the sick..and i love the white uniforms! now, if you are asking me how to improve the quality of care in the rural or provincial areas? i don't have a concrete answer. one thing for sure why they don't do a great job is because they lack initiative from their employer. first off, they don't get paid much, and maybe they don't get paid on time...to me, that's unfair, yes, but you have to go back to the government and maybe pna, or whatever nurses' representative you have in the philippines to take care of these nurses..i don't want to point finger who should be blame for some nurses who slacks off in their job, maybe changes should start from a person itself. it is sad to see how one old timers could slack off and take things for granted, then the new grads sees it, and the cycle repeats itself. if the old timers can teach these new grads the proper way, and teach them how to do the job the right way, then anybody can make a difference. i am sure nurses in those area do the same stuff everyday, which is not that challenging, so it is like a routine for them. the mentality is, " hey, nobody appreciate of what i do, i don't get paid much, so why bother?" the only way change can be done? it has to start from one person to another.
