Working and studying can take up a lot of time.

What have you done to ensure that you have "enough time" for your studies? Do you have any tips to share for new nursing students?

I'm working on my RN degree. I have found the more I study the worse I do. I have 4 small kids and don't have much time. I only study about 4 hours per test.I think of everything we learn as a NCLEX question as our school tests us that way. I focus on what will I see and what will I do. I don't focus so much on the patho of diseases just how to treat them and the symptoms. Works for me I usually get A's.

Just remember, guys, that your brain needs time to process what it takes in. Try to alternate reading/studying/flashcard-viewing with physical activities or things that don't require a lot of mental gymnastics.

I implemented a plan last quarter with this concept that raised my test scores by almost 20 points. I set a timer for one hour. During that hour i studied, read, did NCLEX questions, w/e. then i had a mandatory break. I would prep for dinner that night, or just have some quiet snuggle time with my boyfriend. Then back to the books for another hour. I would do 2-4 hours a night depending on when i got home that day.

Something else that works too is study 10mins out of the hour. Remember if you know something you don't need to keep on studying it over and over again. Build on it instead. Once you learn what goes with it you won't forget either concept.

Plan in advance and anticpate the unexpected.

certainly, study as much as you can however, don't forget to save some time for your self, family and friends :D

i wish this was as easy as said. my biggest problme in nursing school is balancing life school and work. there is no equilibrium for me. :banghead:
