Hello. I am currently a second year BSN student and am constantly thinking about my future after graduation/passing boards. Though it is only my second year and this could all change, I believe I really want to work in the ICU after graduation. Do hospitals generally hire new grads in the ICU or not because of lack of experience? Is there any advice as to what I can do to improve my chances of getting hired in an ICU as a recent grad? I eventually would like to go back to CRNA school and know that the programs require a lot of ICU experience, so I just want to be prepared! Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice!

I've seen many nurses go straight to ICU.. most were sorry they did ,it as it limits basic skills.
Can you get a hospital position after your second year? Get a part time position as a nurse tech(hopefully ICU) and get some hands on experience.
Good luck.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, after this semester I can apply for PCA jobs so hopefully I can get one and that will give me a little more insight!
