ok so we had no lecture today because of the snow. i hate missing a leture bc in nursing school we all know that if you miss a lecture .. there is no room to make it up and its just you and the powerpoints. aside from that i have a test on tuesday followed by a midterm on thursday. there is just so much material. i have finally rached the point where i am like can i do this? can i really do this? ugh how do you guys cope when you reach this point or if you had reached this point .. i feel like i will never retain all this info .. ugh.

Specializes in critical care.

I know that in nursing school, many of us are Type-A personalities with very high expectations for ourselves. We tend to say "Can I really do this?", when what we actually mean is "Can I really do this as well as I want to?"

Sadly, the answer is often no, lol. BUT, that doesn't mean we are failures! At the end of the day, all that really matters is passing school and passing boards.

Just trudge through it, one day at a time. Don't look too far ahead. Do the best you can; everything else is out of your control. It's just a matter of learning to let go.

I agree, take it one day at at time. You really only can do what you can (especially if you have other obligations.) I usually encourage myself with knowing that I've passed my previous tests, so that means I can pass the next test.

Let me start by saying I was there, hell- I am still there! I'm in a 4yr uni degree, hardest to get into in my country and definatly the one with the most demands.

For the first two years I managed an 85 average- but this year i'm borderline 80 and still not done with exams.

Sometimes I get really down on myself because the Dean of the Nursing school says - "you don't want someone who just "passed" every subject to treat your parents..." and then I remember that she was a student 40 years ago- and she may have exelled as a student while at the same time working+being married+having a kid--- but when she was a student they didn't have to learn about fetal moniters (didn't exist)/statistics/genetics/research methods and whole lot of subjects that either didn't exist at the time or were not taught to nurses--- so dear Dean on Nursing--- GET OF MY BACK!

You are right. You will never retain all that info. I think the instructors could only make high B's if they took a test on the same subject they teach from another school...lol.

Just know there are thousands just like you who are also studying, stressing, and somehow keeping it together. Good luck.
