nursing student looking for pct job/student nurse in baltimore

Published

So as the title says, I'm looking for pct job/student nurse jobs in the baltimore area. I have a can license. Im going into my last year of nursing school starting this fall and would like to find something this summer as hospitals are less likely to hire you when your close to graduation. Any tips for those who got a jobs as a student on how they got the jobs. How was/is your experience at hospital ? What is the typical pay? I can work full time in the summer and weekends only when the semester starts.

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

I emphasized the things I learned in nursing school and how I was interested in their hospital in particular. If you have a specialty in mind or at least know you want to work with adults, specify that (but not too specific) on your resume. Don't skip out on the cover letter. As a student nurse I had more of a CNA role. I did have exposure to the other nurses so I was able to ask questions. I made a little more than a CNA, but definitely not as luck as a nurse. About $12.50/hr. Some positions are built to be part to full time during breaks and summer and very PRN during semesters. That's how mine was.

Bumping this...no CNA yet but I will get it once I finish my first semester. Wanted to get some info before everything got crazy lol.

Anyone at Mercy, Hopkins, GBMC, St Joe, UMMC, Sinai, etc? I'm more interested in the underserved areas.

Patient first! I just got hired and they are teaching me everything.

IV, blood draws, EKG, ect.

Just need a CNA. After that they will hire you as RN.

I also just got hired at a nursing home in Columbia and Shady Grove Hospital.

All 3 jobs are part time for the summer and willing to work with my school schedule!

On your application be sure to put that you have a CNA and then you can list all the skills you have done in school. Then on interview emphasize youre willing to learn and hope to work as a RN in the future.
