Published

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. im a 1st yr Nursing student at James Cook Uni Townsville i was doing some research for an assingment and stumbled on this site. i hope over the next three years this site will be helpfull to me as i plan to travel to the States after i graduate that's if my current relationship is still going if not im off to the UK instead.:)

Hi Mel! How are things going, you enjoying the course so far?

The student forum is pretty imformative... they do most things we do!!

Yeah it's going good. i just got my first assignment looked at by our learning center advisor before i put through safeassignment and hand it in and man is she a great help. i think im either gonna get a pass or a credit but a distiction would top it of nicely.

Financely i have the low as some get home life is ok cause i live with my brother but my work have pretty much pulled the plug on me. so i have decided to leave my bar work job and go work in an aged care facility.

plus ill go look at the student site on here as well:):nurse:

Hi Mel,

I´m another first year student - at ACU in Brisbane. I´m loving the course so far, even there are days when it´s pretty stressful.

Bassandtea - do ACU do the problem based learning?

Our tutor won't look at drafts :scrying: so you are lucky there. Last year I was at QUT and they didn't have a problem with doing so.

I don't know how people get time to work!!

Specializes in Jack of all trades, and still learning.

Hi Mel,

Are you enjoying your study so far? (I hate study, especially assignments with a passion. Glad to hear that you are starting off well.

Just wondering about your plan to work overseas. The UK and USA have different requirements to us. Particularly the USA. It might be advisable to look into this now while you are still studying...I don't know if you have to make up units there or what. The UK as far as I'm aware accept our training, but we have to do some sort of top up course that lasts a few weeks.

Are you doing your course internally or externally? I did the majority of my study externally, and found it worked around my lifestyle really well. Of course, when it comes to prac hands on is the only way...:lol2:

I know there is no way I could work and study nursing at the same time - and that´s coming from somebody who was crazy enough to study and work full-time the last time she was a student!

I wish tutors would look at drafts the closest any have said they would do was check our referencing for one assignment... Although we can get some help from the academic skills unit.

I´m not too sure what problem based learning is, but from a very quick google search I don´t think that´s how my course is structured.

thanks i have been doing that as i dont know what needs to be done. but since then i have been doing research and saving sites to my fav's. but i still have to work out what's happening as if i choose to actually live there i have to do test's here i think or i can go over on the fiance visa marry my man and then do the test's over there. not sur on that yet but if any one can give me some pointers i think this site is excellent for it.

hey girls,

i know up here at jcu that we have people in the libary who can go through your drafts with you they are learning advisors and they are terrific. i had my first assingment checked by thenm and they reckon i was going on the right path.

JCU is really cool to do nursing at the lectures are fantasic you can email them and you'll get an answer with in 24hrs. one of lectueres is a tutorial leader as well and they are also approchable and dont mind going through drafts with you as long as you set a time and it's not right on the last week when it's due. there times when we just dont have a clue whats going on and i seem to find the libary a great help especailly having a facuilty libarian helps to.
