nursing student to be has ? about entrance exam

Published

Hello Everyone!

I am looking forward to attending UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing (Pittsburgh, PA) in Sept. 2008.

I will probably be taking the entrance exam which is the test format given by The Psychological Services Bureau, Inc RN entrance exam.

I have been studying like crazy for 6 months now and still feel am not prepared.

My questions are: 1. Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be on the exam? (IE: basic math, Algebra, biology)

2. Does anyone currently attend or plan on attending this school and what happens if you do not do well on a section of the exam? Can you retake that portion or do u have to take a course in that subject.

Sorry for all the questions. I have been out of school sooo long, I am very nervous. Any input with entrance exam help with be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Mommyjskns,

Thanks for clearing up the scoring. I understand it alittle better. I read a lot of posts prior to taking the test and I have to say they were making me really worried about the science section too.

Heaven08,

I will also keep my fingers crossed and pray for you. I hope that you hear back from them soon.

Hope to see you guys in the fall!!

MVPDaddy........that is exactly how I felt last year when I took the test. I was sure that I failed the science part and ended up doing great on it. This will be the longest two weeks of your life! After that, waiting for your acceptance letter will be the longest time of your life. Don't let other people scare you........if you studied, you will probably do fine.

Cindy......I"ll be praying for you .......I know that you really want this. Just think positively.........I know that the test was hard, but everyone else thought it was hard, too. They compare you to others, so technically, you don't have to get 75% of the questions right to pass it. Let me know how you do!

Laura,

That's exactly how I am looking at it.:yeah:I keep telling myself that I did the best that i could have done and hopefully I did better than 75 percent of what the other people taking the test did.

Do you know if it is based on everyone who has ever taken it ,or is it based on just that year, or the people in the same test day? Just curious.

Your not kidding like I said it's only been a couple of days and it's already making me . If I passed the suspense of the acceptance letter will be killer!

P.S. I asked my mom some of the questions that I could remember and some of them even stumped her. She has been in the field for over 30 yrs.
