1. I am starting nursing program this fall, but I have no idea how hard it is goint be..... I got in with 4.0 GPA though...(I don't know how much that will help) I am not smart. I just studied really hard to get into the program.
I know some nursing students just drop out ( nursing program coordinator warned me about that!) I just don't know what to expect...
I will really appreciate any advice.

If you know how to study then you will do just fine, don't worry! It is a lot of hard work, and yes some people do just drop out after they find out how much work is involved, but don't let that deter you! Many a 4.0 student finds themselves making C's in nursing school (not all mind you) so don't get upset if your gpa doesn't hold. It takes a lot of studying, learning how to think critically, and just the dedication and desire to do it.

    Good luck!

    Hi, aqua123!

We are all scared of the unknown. That is a normal human reaction. I remember when I was contemplating going to nursing school and finally making the decision to do it. I was scared to death. My mother was an LVN (here in California) and I heard plenty of stories from her that not only intrigued me, but scared the you-know-what out of me at the same time. Every day that I got out of my car and walked into my clinicals I was physically nauseated and scared that I would accidentally kill some poor unsuspecting patient. What I finally rationalized about everything was this: thousands of people have gone to nursing school before me and made it through. Could they be any smarter or dumber than me? If they could do it, then why couldn't I?

A lot of it is going to be your attitude. Going to nursing school is not going to be a walk in the park. However, it's not going to be on the level of defusing a bomb before it detonates and kills everyone either! Your nursing school experience is going to be full of many new realities for you as it has been for countless nursing students over the years. It's kind of like Christmas finally being here or that day you finally got to go to the amusement park you always dreamed about. It's here! Now, just live in the moments, whatever they turn out to be. That's life!

Welcome to allnurses! See you on the forums!

I am in your spot exactly. I have only one B for the pre-requisites, and I start in June. I have no real good idea what to expect either, but I have heard plenty. I just have to remember where I came from. Just a year ago, I didnt think I would make it where I am today, but I did. Maybe if you think that way, it will help. Try to have confidence in you and do the very best that you can.

    Good luck.
