hi everyone please can u help me

were having a medications calculations exam on monday- tomorrow and i was just wondering if u could share ur light on this question please? i think it is right but 3 other people in my class got different answers to me! it seems easy but maybe im missing something.

the question is

jenny aged 6 years is ordered phenergan 2mg per kg of her body weight. she weighs 20kg. stock strength in hand is 25mg/5ml. how many ml will you administer?

i worked this out by 2 x 20 = 40

40 x 5 = 8ml

25

is this what you would do please help asap exam tomorrow :uhoh3:

I got the same thing as you.

20kg x 2mg/kg = 40 mg dose

40 mg ------ 25 mg

------- = ---------

x mL ------- 5 mL

cross multiply

200 = 25x

x = 8mL

sorry can't figure out how to make it look right without the dashes

thanks muchly! If anyone comes up with anything different can you please let me know asap i really dont want to fail!!! :p

Thanks everyone

by dimensional analysis. . .

2 mg/1 kg
(dose desired)
x 20 kg/1
(patient's weight)
x 5 ml/25 mg
(dose on hand)
=
8 ml
to administer
