I've just been diagnosed with Stargardts Disease. It is a degenerative disease that attacks your Macula ( area in the back of the eye) causing you to gradually lose your vision. It is a genetic disease so me and my identical twin sister have both just been diagnosed together. In 2 years my vision went from 20/20 in the right eye to 20/60 and i've lost central vision. My left eye is still normal. i have started this nursing journey but am scared that I wont be able to complete it. Im just praying that this is the worst it gets since I am being diagnosed at 25 and most people with the disease become legally blind at ages younger than 10. Please pray for me... My dream is to become a nurse, I dont want to let this stop me.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
There are people on this site with vision problems. Maybe this thread will be better in the disability sub-forum?
Check out this site Shedding Light on Nurses with Vision Loss - NurseTogether or American Foundation for the Blind website.

Sending prayers your way, I can only imagine how stressed you are. Is there an online community of others with Stargardt's Disease? I have Tuberous Sclerosis, it has helped me bring real life expectations versus statistics. Take it one day at a time, don't give up your dream.
Best,
Shannon
