Nursing@Simmons FNP MAY 2016 Cohort

Published

Hello my fellow nurses!,

ROLL CALL: Has anyone applied or considered applying to Simmons for a May start date? If so, where are you from?! I have applied and I haven't heard anything yet. I would love to hear from you!

I was accepted full time for May but I deferred to September , because I had some personal issues to attend to and also because I was not so sure about how I was going to cover the tuition . That will give me time to search for grants. However , from what I was told if you go part time federal should cover all of the tuition . If that's true ...

Desertsky These are my EXACT concern. I actually like the idea of live classes and being able to ask questions and hear questions asked... However it limits your flexibility. Yet still, the cost of the program is something I can't seem to wrap my mind around. I ask the question: Do I really want 60K worth of debt? That question is usually followed by Do I want to stress out about trying to find a clinical preceptor? Simmons does all that for you.

I don't know what I will do. Ultimately my education is of utmost importance. I don't want to shell out 60K, but if I havd to I will.

I was just notified that I am accepted into the program pending the completion of the Bio bridge course in May! Congratulations to all accepted so far, I can't wait to get started!

I was accepted into the Part Time MSN-FNP for online May 2016! It is true that if you are part time then, FAFSA loans cover the cost of term tuition. I have heard time and time again for those I know who are either in the program or Alumni that I wont regret going here, and how much they LOVED the program! I also know that Dana Farber- one of the top Cancer Institutions in the nation LOVE and prefer to have students from Simmons! Its a solid program all around from the research that I have done.... and that has been a lot! I did Orientation last week and it felt amazing to see how their program is run. As far as how much tuition is, it is a lot of money, however, you are paying for what you get. Also, if you are willing to relocate or commute to a rural facility after graduation, the Federal Government will pay up to $30K a year towards Student loans. Although, I know that this is not a convenient options for everyone, it is what I plan on doing. Its a solid program with a school that has a very reputable reputation that is partnered with the COF (Colleges of Fenway) meaning that you can take courses from Georgetown while in attendance! Hopefully this helps! I am SO excited to start the program and move forward in my career and life long dream of becoming a Nurse Practitioner! I do know that the stronger our student support, the easier it will be to greatly excel! Id love to connect with you all and be a help/support with those starting this exciting new journey!
