Nursing scrubs and shoes suggestions?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times on this forum and I did find some older posts so I wanted to ask it as a "newer" post in case there's new brands out. I will be starting on a med surg unit in 2 weeks and we have to wear white uniforms.

I read a lot of people seem to like the brands Koi and Grey's Anatomy/Barco along with a handful of other brands. I'm 5'1" and about 113 lbs. I don't mind paying a little extra for quality material but I feel like it's very hard to find scrubs that fit someone my height. When I was in nursing school, I ordered XXS in both pants and tops and I would SWIM in them. The pants had to be folded at least 3x and looked ridiculous. I don't know if anyone would be able to steer me in the right direction regarding uniforms for my size since I feel like there's so many options out there? I know some brands carry XXS but are they a true to size XXS or like a baggy XXS a.k.a. true to size XS? Any sites that ship quickly since I'm starting in 2 weeks?

Also, which brand doesn't wrinkle as much (I'm probably going to look into getting a steamer), doesn't get linty and has a ton of pockets? I'll be working 5 days a week so how many sets should I look into purchasing? What do you guys wear for shoes? I had a pair of Nursemates during nursing school that were hideous and not too comfortable.

Also, since I have to wear white, I feel like it would get dirty very easily or be see through (not sure which brands might be more see through also). I'm going to assume bleach if anything but I'd still like to see if there's any other suggestions. Sorry for asking so much and if some questions are stupid! Thank you in advance!

Just to summarize my questions:

1. I'm 5'1", 113 lbs. Good quality scrubs brand/style, doesn't wrinkle easily, doesn't get linty, not see through (because I need white) and has lots of pockets, ships within 2 weeks?

2. I'll be working 5 days a week, how many sets should I get?

3. Good comfortable nursing shoes? (Price not too much of an issue)

4. Suggestions to keeping white uniform clean?

Don't get that steamer just yet. Wait and see how pristine you feel you need to be after working awhile.

I love Cherokee & Landau for the quality. But I have no idea about the quality of the white and I imagine they are not as cute and fashionable as some of the newer brands. They wear like iron. All of their pants do come in Petite, but you still might need to have some tailoring done. It would be worth it in the long run, I think. I only want to do laundry once weekly so I have 5 of everything.

As to shoes, if 60 people answer, you'll get 60 different ideas. It's all very individual and sort of a crapshoot. Shop, try on, and hope for the best. But whatever you do, get high quality, no skimping. Also, there are seriously a zillion threads on here about shoes. Use the search bar to look.

I am the same height as you. I like the Urbane scrub bottoms in XXS (extra-extra small) petite. The Urbane brand is made by Landau, but has a more feminine fit.

The XXS size was very tight and form-fitting for me at 128 pounds, so they might be a little loose on you since you're 15 pounds lighter.
