Hey everyone,
I'm going to be applying to a few schools this coming winter and was wondering what the difficulty of acceptance was like, the difficulty of the program and what type of work (if any) current or previous students have had. I am applying to Lake Washington IT, Tacoma CC, Shoreline CC and Everett CC. I'm also considering working as a CNA during the program, just completed my certification class but need to take the test. Any information on these programs would be greatly appreciated!
This thread has a lot of good information - thank you all!
For those who have applied to Highline: is this a lottery? I have been trying to find out approximately how many students apply each application cycle. Do any of you know? I'm trying to gauge whether or not it would be worth applying, as I have horrible luck and never get selected in anything that is luck-based. :)
icelind.. did you get into LWT?
wonderchic.. congrats on Shoreline!!
I start at EVCC March 31st as well.. very excited as well.
JustDance.. check out Seattle Central.. they are a first come, first served. They take the first 56 qualified applicants to the program. The application date is April 1st at noon.. If you have over a 75 on your TEAS, and good grades, you can get in there.. and it looks like a wonderful program. They were my first choice, but when EVCC called.. I took the seat.
I called and talked to Highline, they have 20 slots per quarter open for outsiders (10 for internal) and they get anywhere from 90-120 applicants. Highline (and Renton, both June deadlines) are my back ups schools, since I should hear back from others before then.
I've applied to Bellevue (in Feb) and Seattle Central College (I applied at 12:02pm at the 12:00pm opening). I'm crossing my fingers for Central (as they are ranked even above Seattle University in Nursing Programs). I'll hear back about both within the next 2 months. eek!!
Just a heads up!! South Seattle College's program is under heavy watch, as they are at risk of their accreditation being taken away. (I work on campus and did all my pre reqs there) They also don't have a direct streamlined shot from CNA>LPN>RN. You have to wait almost a year between LPN and RN there. It was a waste of an application fee for me. I had to ask about it at the info session, they don't offer up this information.
Oh man, glad I found this thread again! Thank you all for the info and congrats to those who have been accepted to schools already!
I applied at Seattle U and Bellevue and was accepted at Seattle U. I am still waiting to hear back from Bellevue. If I go the ADN route, I may as well go as close to home as possible and Highline is about 20 minutes closer than Bellevue, but I also am not a fan of the lottery system so with those odds, I may not even bother.
For those who are curious, I also applied at Pierce during last year's application cycle and didn't get an interview. Their process is crazy hard and they very much favor those with a ton of medical experience.

Thanks! Yeah that's the only one I applied to this quarter. If I don't get in then I'm just going to save up a bit more money and apply for several in the Fall.
