hey everyone,
I just completed my first semester of nursing school and I pretty much hated it. On clinical days I was so stressed I could barely eat my breakfast. I keep reading all these posts about nurses who hated nursing school, so I guess it is not uncommon. So what I am wondering is how am I to know if I want to be a nurse or not if I hate school. I am feeling really stressed about this. Please give your insight. Thanks!
I feel the same way.. I am in my third semester of nursing school and the only reason I am replying is because I have 2 weeks off. So, far nursing school has been on stress!!!!!!....Only nursing students can feel what we go through....because it is hard....as semesters pass and you get deeper into the courses I am sure you will like it..hope this helps....also I work with an RN and she says she hated nursing school and wont go back but loves her job as a RN.
Take each semester as it comes and do your best. Nursing school like many
other health fields includes both lecture and clinical. For many of us that
is an additional stress in terms of time management. Take the challenges in
small manageable increments, and make sure you take some free time (even
a small amount) for yourself. Working part time and going to nursing school,
just staying focused and completing assignments and clinical requirements
sure kept me out of a normal life for a while.
If you are not sure what specialty you are interested in, often a specialty
will select you after you complete your nursing degree.

I have noticed it is pretty rare to see a nursing student posting on allnurses. Pre Nursing yes, post nursing yes, but in nursing school people just drop off never to be seen again until nursing school is over. It is scary.. does everyone feel like this? Is it just accelerated programs that are so hard to keep up with?
I am very scared as I am unsure my husband and kids will survive for so long without me. (2 kids, they will be 6 when and if i start)
