Hi guys! I've saw several threads similar to this one; however, they were all several years old. I'm wondering if any hospitals in Mississippi still offer the tuition payment in exchange for a work commitment. I've contacted Forrest General in Hattiesburg and South Central in Laurel. Both of them no longer offer it. Does anyone have any information regarding this? I'm really interested in whether Whitfield still does this?

In my experience, most places that offer tuition reimbursement require one to already be an employee for a set amount of time before they become eligible. My facility's requirements are that the employee has worked at least 20 hours/week for a year, are not currently within a disciplinary plan, and must work for at least a year after the final reimbursement payment is made. The employee must pay tuition upfront, and as long as grade requirements (C for undergrad, B for grad) are met, the facility will write a check for up to 90% of what the employee paid up to an annual limit.

There is no nursing shortage. Nursing scholarships and tuition exchange programs are pretty much in the past. I say "pretty much" because there are always remote pockets of the US that continue to desperately need employees.
I have no idea who/what Forrest General or South Central or Whitfield is. But chances are that you need to plan on paying for your own education.
