Nursing School Tests

Published

I am in a class of what the teachers call "exceptional" students. This is our 3rd quarter together and the class as a whole is averaging over 95% on tests. I on the other hand am averaging 85%. I put a lot of effort into studying so I don't know if that is the issue. Does anyone have any study advice or an opinion on being in this type of situation? Thanks:) Marie41

Well, do you know FOR SURE that the class averages 95%, or is this from what other students have said to you? I've found that other students tend to exaggerate their grades. (Just a thought for you.)

Yeah, unfortunately the average is posted after every test on our intranet. I did talk to another student today who is having the same issues as me....we cannot seem to get comparable scores to the rest of the class no matter how much we study. We are hypothesizing that it is because we are older students and our retention rate is not as good as it once was:confused: The frustration I am personally feeling comes from spending a tremendous amount of time studying and not getting the results that equate with the time I'm putting in. I'm not sure I know how to study for the tests and am not getting much advice on how to correct this- despite asking several teachers and other students. Its just a little frustrating at times....just going to keep on trying:)

Don't give up!! :) I find for me that using a lot of different study materials is the way to go. I also find that trying to read all the "required" chapters NEVER works... it ends up taking SO much time and I usually don't retain that much. I find that practicing questions help a lot because you learn to catch "key words" and prioritizing and tricks along the way.

Wish you luck!! :)
