Nursing school

I have been accepted into a 4 year school to pursue a nursing career, but my mother wants me to continue to attend a 2 year and get a nursing degree from there. The problem is in order to get accepted in to the 4 year school's nursing program you have to have 32 credit hours from that school, so I think I will be just wasting time continuing school at 2 year school. So does anyone else think it is a waste of time for me to continue attending a 2 year school.

    No. Not at all. This way you A) save ALOT of money on the first two years tuition, and B) get to work as an RN while finishing your BSN online at your own pace. Winner winner.

    It all depends on your situation and what you want in the end. Ultimately you will need a BSN because as you have heard or will hear, most hospitals prefer to hire nurses with BSN only (has to do with magnet status and so forth), so if you have already been accepted to a BSN program, it may be better to stay with that program based on the BSN value in the job market. However, many people still choose the ADN route (2 year college) for many valid reasons and one major one is financial. You will save more money attending a 2 year, graduate pass the NCLEX and continue to a RN - BSN bridge program and essentially it takes the same amount of time probably less (3 years minus pre-reqs) as a BSN program.

    So if you are looking to save money, then yes you should continue with the ADN route, but if not then you might as well attend a 4 year college and obtain your BSN all at once instead of doing it via different avenues....
