Nursing school struggles

Published

Hello! My name is Kat and I'm 27 years old. I am currently in my 3rd semester. WHOOAH senior year! This semester at my college is known as the "Hell Semester". And boyyy has it lived up to it's name. I found that along with the responsibilities of school, I have really been having a hard time with my home life this semester. I am married to the love (and pain in the ass at times lol) of my life. We have been together for almost 10 years. The issue that I'm having the most this semester is that NOBODY UNDERSTANDS THE STRESS OF NURSING SCHOOL EXCEPT NURSING STUDENTS!!! I am sooo tired of hearing "you study all the time; you haven't left the house; how can you possibly still have homework". I'm literally getting annoyed with anyone because they have nooo clue how hard and stressful nursing school is. I'm not necessarily looking for an answer, but more looking to make sure I'm not alone.

I have one non-nursing friend who understands, but only because she went through pharmacy school. Unless you have been to another professional school like this it is impossible to understand. My fiance says he gets it because he sees how stressed I am, and sees how hard I study but no...he cannot possibly understand. What is your 3rd semester? I am in semester 2, which has a reputation for being the worst in my school. We are doing med surge, pharm, and OB.

Yeah I agree. They say they understand, but they have no clue. This semester we are in surgical acute. We have OB, cardiac, and psych.

My favorite question by my SO is "when will you be done studying?" lol. Never.

Absolutely true. I graduated from college a loooong time ago and I am still taking courses and seminars and buying books. If you stop learning the day you graduate from college, you start to fall behind. Tell him that. My husband gets it, bless him.
