Nursing School Rejection Letters

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

For those of you that have received rejection letters for your nursing program, I have a question. Does your school give you a reason? The two schools I applied for is based on a point system. One of the schools let me know exactly what point range got into the program, how many applicants, and the range of points all together that applied. The other school did not tell me anything. They only said that the maximum enrollment for that semester has been filled. I have called this school to find out the points they took in, but they don't return my call. I have been in this school's nursing program before, but was dismissed because I failed two of my classes. This was two years ago. I was also told by them that I was eligible to come back. Its weird because the first time I managed to get in the program with C's. Now that i've retaken those classes and gotten A's, I can't get back in. Does your schools give reasons?

The schools I applied to (junior college in northern California) are lottery based after you meet their requirements to be eligible to even apply. So since you have the same chance as everyone else after you qualify for applying, the rejection letter (the one I received) only stated,"You were not selected in our random selection to start the nursing program."

Other programs (non-nursing related) I have applied to in the past (more merit based), didn't tell me why, just that they had too many applicants, that they regret they couldn't accept me and wished me luck. It was a nice way to soften the blow after you send them hundreds in primary and secondary application fees.

It's possible the previous time you applied, there were less applicants... now the applicant pool has grown considerably large! I would try to talk to the counselor (in your school's nursing department) and see what they say. And I've tried calling them on the phone too... I think it would be easier to try to talk to someone in person or (in my case) sending emails.

Best of luck to you!
