Nursing school is pretty easy so far...

Published

before i started school i was so scared because everyone was saying how its so hard and a lot of people dont survive the first semester etc. people were saying how the teachers at my school are evil and rush through the material, that couldnt be further from the truth.

the only "hard" class so far is a&p but even that is not difficult. cell organization? organ systems? i learned this in grade 11 for christs sake. you just need to put in the time to study so you can memorize all the definitions. why does everyone say nursing school is so hard? i thought first semester was supposed to be the hardest?

You just started.

...and some schools are more rigorous than others.

Nursing School doesn't get rough until MedSurg/Pharm.

The material isn't difficult. The math isn't difficult. There's just entirely too much of it coming at you at once...and if you have to work? If you have mouths to feed? Bills to pay?

Honestly, it all comes down to how badly you want it.

- 2 quizzes a week. 2 major tests a week.

- 4 books.

- 3 chapter tests are the norm...and every chapter is freakin' 40-110 pages long.

...and this isn't counting homework or clinical work, or your other classes or ATI testing for both classes (which is used to weed us out, I'm convinced. It's an nclex prep, but it's also 20% of our final grade....not that I'm complaining. ATI is a good system, imo.).

We've just finished Pharm...for good. Thank 'Jebus'! We're almost home....

After today's test, everyone went to Chili's and had a drink. *laugh*

Now we have to worry about medsurg. We have the 3 chapter exam and ATI exam on 1 day. We have the 90 question final exam the next day.

My classmates and I...are pretty much delirious at this point....

We've planned another Chili's Happy Hour binge after we rec'v the final grades....

Med Surg 3, here we come....

It will come in handy...when it comes to Pharm and some parts of Med Surg.

...but it's not just about memorizing facts. You'll go far on your exams if you actually understand the patho and process.
