Hey everyone-
So as I was searching online for a nursing school I came across a school called Northbrook College of Health Care and I was wondering if anyone has heard about this school or has been there. I looked through their website and it caught my interest because of their accelerated programs. And I am thinking to make an appointment to see a counselor, but wanted to see if anyone has heard about it.
Thanks :)

Good Luck! I took a look at their website and it seems like a very nice school and I am thinking about setting up a time to see a counselor. Let me know how the test goes.

NCOHC is ran by Mrs. Kim Hollowell... The former D.O.N of Northwestern Institute when NWIHT was just starting its LPN program (six years ago). There's no finer nurse-educator in the North-Suburbs than Mrs. Hollowell. Likewise, their Dean of Academics, Dr. Zafar, is a very educated, articulate, disciplined and respectable medical professional. Anyone who walks through their doors to get a Nursing (or Allied Health) education is sure to get their money's worth.
If you guys/gals are closer to Northbrook than to any schools (private or public) in Chicagoland, NCOHC is your best choice towards becoming a healthcare professional.
Disclaimer: I don't work for NCOHC. I just happened to have had the privilege of knowing them both from a prior workplace.

I took the test and passed!!!! i will be starting in their summer program. Hanzo, your so right. i actually got a chance to tour the school with mrs hollowell she is extremely nice and helpful. If she teaches like she explains the program then im sure shes an excellent educator. As far as paying, they put me on a personal payment plan so i dont have to eat ramen noodles for a year while im in school. I cant wait to start!!!!
So far my experience has been wonderful and i def recommend coming here. You can see their programs at NCOHC - LPN Licensed Practical Nursing Schools Chicago, Allied Health, PN Prerequisites Look for me in class.

Congratz, Erika. As long as you do your job, I can guarantee you that they'll do theirs. Study hard, study smart, and you'll be an LPN faster than you know it.
G'luck.

Thanks, for the information Erika. I would like to talk to you if possible before I visit their campus. I'm currently at North Western Institute of Health and Technology taking pre classes. I too think what I'm paying is way too much.... Please respond to my email address [email protected]
Thanks so much for your post!

Hi Nurse2323,
Have you been accepted to NCOHC? If so, have you started? I'm thinking of applying as well but would like some feedback. Thanks! -Kristen

Im currently taking a phlebotomy program here and starting an RN program at harper. Here are some things to keep in mind. This is a brand new school and has not had a graduating class yet so there is no way of knowing how well they prepare their students for their nclex. I personally think private schools are a scam to get money. None of the classes here will transfer of you want to continue your education theyre limited to this school only. The staff is great though. Classes are over priced so why not take your classes for a better price at a CC yes theyre harder but youll actually earn your grade by learning not by paying. Plus i feel like LPN isnt worth it unless you want to stay stuck at a nursing home. I was in americares Lpn program and it was a waste of my time and. Money im much happier at harper professors are great and students are my age. This is just my honest opinion
