Nursing school drug test

Published

I wasn't nervous about the drug test because I have nothing to hide until I started looking for a job. This specific nursing home gave me one of those cup urine tests that gives you the results in a few minutes and it came up positive for PCP! I've never taken PCP nor do I even know what it is exactly. Who does PCP anyway?!? After doing some research I found out that one of the medications I'm on, Lamictal, can test positive for PCP on those kinds of tests but not on the lab tests since they use specific equipment for each drug. Which is why I've never had a problem before, because I've never had cheap pre-employment drug tests. My question is: was your pre-nursing school drug test (if you had one) sent to a lab or was it done right there because I have to pay $50 for mine and if I pay $50 and it comes back with a false-positive for PCP and I don't get into nursing school I'm going to be so upset.

Oh no! I take Lamictal too! What a scary mess you're in. Have they said that it's a passed drug test yet?

My NS drug screen was done at a large toxicology lab, it was $75.

OP - I'm sorry that happened to u, but it does make me feel like I wasn't alone. Little over a year ago, I started having seizures. EMS brought me into the where hubbie and I both worked - I had retired due to health reasons a year or so before this.

So, I get in the trauma room and doc comes in. Draw labs and I go to CT. Right before going to CT, I pee in a cup. After 45 minutes, I am done in CT and go back to the ER. The ER doc is waiting in the room and first question he asks is "ok, where did u get the drugs?" He tells me I am pos for PCP. After a lot of fussing back and forth, he finally agrees to a repeat UDS, but says it'll have to be a cath.

So, I get the cath specimen and it comes back negative. Doc didn't want to believe it, but didn't have much choice.

Anne Good luck to u!

No they haven't said what kind of test and I'm afraid to ask because I don't want themto think I'm askig because I have something to hide. I'm assuming that since I'm paying $50, it will be sent to a lab and done correctly.

sissiemama- I know how you feel! It sucks being accused of something you've never even done!
