I am an LVN, and I am looking to apply to nursing programs in Cali come the Spring. I will end up with a B in micro and have an A in anatomy. Does anyone if there are any nursing programs with waitlists? I am worried I won't be competitive to get in with a B.

I am not familiar with nursing programs in Cali, but wanted to say that if there are a couple that you are interested in applying to I would reach out to the school. This is exactly what I did while applying and it helped me so much.

LATTC has a waitlist. right now, it is 4-5 semester of waiting ? kind of long but with the looks of trying to get into programs with the limited acceptance and the rise in applicants.. its worth adding your name to the list!

Call the schools in your area. The Board of Nursing will have a list of all accredited RN programs. This should also be able to direct you to the pass/fail rate on Board Exams for each program. One 'B' is probably not going to make a big difference. Lots of people can memorize material, but not all of them can put it in to practice. I would take the latter in the real world any day!

Each school is different, which is really annoying. The only way is to check each program and the school website. An important distinction is Minimum GPA vs Average GPA. They don't often post the Average GPA but if you could find it this would give you a much better picture. Some schools weight the Core science courses as well. You only listed 2 but if your other grades are similar you should be in a good position to not only get in but also do well.
I believe the most important factor is actually just getting into a nursing program and saving money.
You have a great chance of getting into nursing school with your LVN background. But I believe you should look into LVN - RN bridge programs which are less competitive, and the time commitment is less.
Less competitive BSN schools in CA include West Coast University and WGU (online). Both are accredited, get you an RN license, and allow you to work as a nurse!
