Nursing School Blues

Published

Someone PLEASE tell me everything gets better once I complete nursing school. Happiness in nursing school is hard to find when I am killing myself for my degree but leave exams feeling defeated. Before beginning my accelerated-RN degree, I knew it would be challenging; however, the challenging days are becoming harder for me to rationalize when I do not feel as though I am being successful. Many of my counterparts feel this way so I am really just looking for some inspiration to get me through the rest of the semester and get me through until graduation (this December!).

I've personally been much happier since being out of school.. You'll also be so proud of yourself for getting through this experience .. I had an extremely difficult experience too.. And the best advice I can give is to try to focus on your current day/ task / moment or else it can become

overwhelming and scary!

Define "gets better"

You say you are not successful. How do you define success? Straight A's? I graduated with my BSN and a GPA of 3.4. Is that "success"? I say I accomplished my goal and I have been a nurse for 8 years. Nothing magical happens after you graduate. You will be working nights and weekends unless you find something else. You will have multiple patients to care for and it is intense work. 12 hour shifts.

I don't know how to inspire you unless you inspire yourself. You are working hard...keep at it. Do not accept defeat. Your life is in your hands. With zero "inspiration" you should still graduate because you are in control of yourself. It isn't about perfection...it is about putting in the work and taking the pain. Many fall the the side..don't be one of those...it is all up to you.
