I just found about a nursing scholarship program that pays for your tuition, books, and gives you a monthly stipend of $1200 monthly. To get the scholarship from HRSA you have to commit to two years in American Samoa, Guam, D.C.,Puerto Rico; well you get the picture. You have to pick one. My question is the application deadline was in June does anyone know of another scholarship similar to this one that hasn't closed. I don't want to have to weight until next June. Please get back to me ASAP:nurse:

Did anyone ever respond to your post?

I actually received the HRSA scholarship. With mine I have to work one year in an underserved area for every year they paid for school/stipend for me (for me that is 3 years). Underserved areas for me in CA are basically everywhere and even include Kaiser and County Hospitals, so it's really not that hard - when you consider that I received a stipend 1150/mo and they paid for my entire private education (not books though).

One thing you really need to have to really be considered for this is an EFC (expected family contribution) of 0 (zero). This is found out when you do the FASFA. So, basically you have to be very low income. Also, to apply you have to already be accepted into a nursing program.

I don't know of any other programs. But the HRSA also does Loan Foregiveness after you are done with school. If you work in an underserved area hospital they'll pay back a portion of your loan. For us in CA, google "Department of Health" and search on nursing scholarships or something close to that, to find info. Good luck.
