  1. I interviewed about 2 weeks ago and was extended an offer today. I think many of the unit managers have been out on holiday. Does anyone know if we will start together as a group or by unit?
  2. You've shared lots of great information and I wish you the very best in your new job!
  3. My interview is not scheduled until this coming Saturday. The nurse recruiter told me the same thing about ER (I didn't apply for ICU). What department did you request?
  4. Med Surg/Neuro. Good luck everyone!
  5. I applied for Med/Surg. For those who are still waiting: 1) I haven't heard of anyone getting called for NICU or PEDS so I'm thinking they haven't gotten to this; 2) I'm pretty sure they're not going alphabetically based on the people I know who are getting called. Hang in there. I hope everyone gets a call by next week!
  6. Please don't give up everyone. I just got a call this evening to schedule an interview :)
  7. I just got a call to schedule interviews as well. I'm so excited as this is my first choice of hospitals!
  8. :nurse:I too got the rejection email. :crying2: While I appreciated the notification, it wasn't exactly what I needed to hear today! Oh well, back to my favorite pastime, filling out applications! Good luck to the rest of you. Someone has to get those spots.
  9. Hey guys! Just wanted to check in as I'm sure you're all anxious about interviews, etc. Don't worry if you haven't gotten a call yet. I got mine right before the semester started and right now they're pretty bogged down. In terms of 1st degree GPA, mine was not great, around a 3.2 but it was many years ago. Not sure how much they count this. The person who posted the bioethics info is on the right track. Just to let you know, about 2/3rds of my class (including me) has to take this in the upcoming "junior year" (or 2nd semester). This is supposed to be the most challenging of the 3 and we're all dreading it. One of my fellow students took the online Taylor Univ in a few weeks and it's also a lot cheaper than MSMC's course. You should have plenty of time if they let you know by the end of January (which will probably turn into the end of February). Also remember some people who get accepted are going to decide against the program and that will free up space. Good luck everyone!
  10. We're just now getting information on these even though we started in the fall. I would go ahead and apply for the student loans and then these programs will repay some of the loans but you can check with financial aid office once you get accepted. They're pretty well organized and can push your loans through quickly and easily. People are debating whether they want to be tied down to a certain organization following graduation. Something to think about but you've got time to consider this.
  11. The program is great! There are times you will hate some of the administrative details and it is certainly challenging but you receive a really great education. For those who do make it into the program, my advice is to work together and help each other out as much as you can. This program is very fast and demanding but luckily we're a very cohesive group. Some of us have suggested they have some of the former students at your initial skills workshops to help out with orientation.
  12. Hi there, I'm in the Fall 2009 cohort on break until January. I know it's hard waiting but thought I could answer a couple of questions. What I recall is you won't see much change on web advisor until after your interview. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't start interviews until after the beginning of the year. Just hang in there and wait for that call or email. We were contacted both ways last time around. Good luck to you all!
  13. Good luck to everyone in this class. I've decided to attend a different program so I know I'm gonna make someone's day from the waitlist.
  14. Sorry for not posting sooner. I did get into the SF program after getting very close off the waitlist for all 3 summer programs. To all of you, I know how hard this can all be but I'm on the back side of the wall now. I did develop a major backup plan to go into application mode and was planning to apply to as many CC programs as I could in the summer/fall. I have been accepted to an ABSN program in SoCal now so have to decide between the two in the next few weeks. Everyone tells me everything happens for a reason and there are many options out there, especially for those of you in your 20's and 30's. I have also heard that there will be many jobs available as the current generation retires in the next few years. Hang in there!
  15. Congratulations to both of you who just got accepted. I spent the last 2 days looking at housing and found it to be a bit more expensive than I'd hoped. I am kind of picky though. The area right around campus has lots of "single" places listed on Craigslist although I didn't look at these. There are also inexpensive places in Koreatown. The least expensive, close, nice place I found was Bunker Hill Towers. Didn't check the studios but the 1BR are around 1300. Hope that helps! See you in the fall.
