Nursing Research

Hello

Does ANYONE have advice on a supplemental book to read when reading a text on nursing research? I'm not loving our text book in our research class and I'm looking for something to put the concepts in better/different terms... PLEASE HELP!

THANKS!

My research class used Burns and Grove's The practice of nursing research: appraisal, synthesis, and generation of evidence (6th Ed). It's put out by Saunders, an imprint of Elsevier.

Hope this helps!

What specifically are you having difficulty with? Is it the terms, applicaiton, understanding the different typess of research, how to set up a study, validation, generalization, or?? This may be helpful to point you in the right direction.

I took nursing research and struggled thorugh but got an A. However, when I took my 2nd bachelors in social work, I had to take research, again. However, this class was more helpful. It went into depth about the terminology, but gave me hands on knowledge about how to design a study. Additionally, we had to write our own hypothesis, and design a study. Finally as a final, we were given specific information and were required to use software, designed to determine the effectivness of the study, to determine the outcome of the 'study'. Finally, we had to use our data to explain whether the 'study' was valid or invalid. My undergrad nursing research did not offer the didactic aspect of nursing research.

If you could give us an idea where you are having difficulty, it would help to dx your difficulties. BTW, do a google on nursing research. There is no secret about how nursing research is done. Sometimes the way another professor/instructor presents the information may clear up questions :twocents:
