Nursing Research starting 2/24/14

Who is joining me in the 7th circle of hell?

This is my last class before Capstone and I am now regretting taking it amidst U.S. History II as that class is an insane amount of work.

So, who will be suffering through this with me?! Anyone??

***crossing fingers for a stellar group***

That's what I was afraid of. But unfortunately this is how I had to schedule them to make it so I can complete the program by the end of the summer or middle of the fall. I only work part time so I am hoping to be able to do it. I may re-visit my schedule though and see if there are other options.

Trust me, revisit it at all costs. I cut my schedule to part time for research and still had to take a week off and that was the only class I was taking. I spent a minimum of 40 hours a week on research alone.

There must be other options.

Seriously, read the threads. I doubled as tripled the entire program and am almost done. Many people say not to double with health assessment but I felt that it could be done with some good time management, but with research...read the threads. You don't want to mess with that class. Failing it will put you behind as well so really, look for another option. Everyone here speaks from experience.

Thanks everybody. I am taking everyone's advice and dropping Vulnerable populations this go round. I really appreciate the responses I am glad I will not be biting off more than I can chew. My only other option for doubling is taking Legacy of the Family because it is offered to start 2/24 as well. I will probably do research alone though, even if it means going into the fall semester to finish. Also I am planning to take Assesment and Health Promotion across the Lifespan for the 4/7 start date. Am I living in crazy town there too? Thank You all so much for all of your help.

I think that's doable. Health promotion was super easy and dare I say even entertaining?

Health assessment is very time consuming and detail oriented but it isn't hard. I think you can swing it as health promotion always only took me just a couple hours.

You are taking it with HIST 1312?!? With all due respect, you are either very brave or completely insane.

Seriously, as you've seen from these threads, Research is a whopper of a class and despite it being group work, is very labor intensive. Is there any possible way you could postpone Research until History was done? Even though it's only a two-week overlap, those first two weeks in Research are not fun.

If you can't change your schedule, good luck--I'll be hoping for the best for you.

I took Assessment and Health Promotion together. It's very doable. Assessment is nit-picky grunt work. But Health Promotion is much lighter. Just keep all of your due dates organized and I think you'll be fine.

Ah, my great life dilemma.

So, I had no idea that History 1312 would be so damn awful. Seriously - I spend the same amount (or MORE) time on this than health assessment and my AC is awful. I didn't know what I was getting into there, but have managed to get almost a perfect grade in leadership as well as maintain a 97% average in history this far.

Normally, I would rearrange my schedule. BUT, my acceptance into NP school for the fall is contingent on my completion of this program. With the limited offerings of Capstone in conjunction with Research, it won't work and still allow time for my grade to be processed.

To add some additional insult to injury, I am waiting to hear back about a new job. Currently, I work nights in home care and get a majority of my schoolwork done on my night shifts (I have a tablet and my own mobile hotspot for Internet). This new job would eliminate that.

I'm already not going to the gym to make time for school so it's safe to say that the next several weeks are going to be beyond painful. I'm already considering calling out for one entire week.

I'm sure my increasingly delirious messages to this board will give you a sense of my declining mental stability.

School FAIL on my part.

To clarify, I just doubled history and leadership.

Damn. I shall certainly pray for you.

I had made the mistake of doubling HIST 1311 with nursing classes, while working full-time AND being heavily pregnant. After that winter, I vowed that even if it extended my graduation date by years, I would not be that masochistic again. I'm still traumatized from that fall semester.

Then again, I did not have NP school or anything else weighing on me, so it was OK if I didn't graduate by date X.

If you have questions about Research, let me know.

Wow, I have just read the previous comments. And from what I read, apparently I have bitten off more than I can chew, for real this time. I completed leadership today and I am in my 4th week of History 1312. I begin vulnerable populations and research on 2/24, so they will overlap with history. Lastly I will take Capstone. My goal was to complete this program by May 2013 (which would be exactly 13months). I must say, that I started this program April 2013, from my degree map I was told I needed to take 5 additional pre-reqs along with my nursing courses. History is the last of the 5. With that being saying I have doubled and tripled my schedule this entire time, while working full-time with 3 small children and managed to still have a little over a 3.0 GPA. Now I have finally neared the end, I'm filled with excitement about finishing up and then I read this thread. :( I'm over hear seriously debating dropping one of the two courses. With that being said, with my current schedule which class do you all recommend I drop? Which class do I combine with the remainder of history? Thanks so much in advance!

I also finished leadership and am in history 1312 - I spent ten hours doing my reaction paper and midterm prep today (with lots of distraction in the middle).

From everything I have read, and from what I have seen of the class, it's awful. My tactic is going to be to spend all next Sunday doing as much as I can for week 6 of history and then dive into research on Monday. I figure if I maintain a high enough average with history up until week 6, I can slack a bit the following two weeks.

History is SO much work, vulnerable is totally doable but the second week room me about 30 hours to complete. I hear that research is a 30-40 hour/week class so you may want to push things back a bit. Even for me, tripling is tricky, but tripling these three is going to be too much with everything else on your plate.
