Is it possible to reenter nursing after a 20 year absence. I plan on moving to Florida and would like to somehow, get back into nursing. I left for health reasons that are now under control. I took a nursing refresher course but every place seems to want someone with recent experience. Obviously, I can't get experience without someone taking a chance. Any suggestions??

they may be put off by the gap in your work history, thinking you would get stressed out (bound to happen!) and quit. Were you applying in acute care? You might need to work in LTC or MD office or just anyplace for a year or two, to show that you can work without your health interferring.

Good luck..nursing is much different now than 20 yrs ago. If you have access to a large hospital with a new grad internship program this would be a good place to go...they have the dedicated education dept in place to help you reacclimate. Good luck to you!
