Hello everyone!
This has no doubt been discussed previously however I'd like to create a new discussion topic that will hopefully be timely and relevant for the current situation in Australia for overseas nurses.
I have a Filipino friend who has completed her 4 year nursing degree in the Philippines, has her licensure and would very much like to work here in Melbourne Australia. She does not however have the 2 years post registration clinical experience so would not meet APRHAs requirements and would therefore not be eligible to complete a bridging course.
So the question is are there any education providers such as Universities or TAFEs offering a course that would recognize here 4 year degree and allow here to get qualified here? For example I have read there are some institutions that might allow to do a 1 year course that would eventually lead to registration? In particular I am looking for programs in Victoria.
Thanks in advance :)

Most universities give credit for a degree from the Phillipines and it seems to be anyone can eventually get registered in this country, however,, getting a job or to be qualified to apply for a working visa is another thing.
Immigration is set up to bring in people that the country that is having the emigration is short in that skill.
Australia is not short of nurses with no or little experience as we do educate many nurses.
Through the years Australia has welcomed thousands of nurses from the Phillipines with no or little experience, now however these jobs are now not there, as aged care places have been filled up and these are where many of the overseas nurses with little or no experience were employed and those nurses do not seem to take family/maternity leave or move on, the jobs remain filled.
